All CLC facilities operate under University Policy 3.10, Recharge Operations and Service Facilities
We realize that turnaround time is extremely important to our customers and aspire to providing high quality results in the shortest possible time. We routinely track the time between sample submission and results distribution which requires a strict definition of turnaround time.
What do we mean by turnaround time?
- Turnaround time is defined as the number of days between the day the sample is checked in and the day the results are posted on our web site.
- Samples are checked in only after an order, samples and valid payment information have been received (see our payment policy below).
- Only business days (Monday through Friday) are included in our calculation.
We would be happy to discuss the turnaround time you can expect when submitting samples. You can contact us using our Contact Us page.
Departmental Account Numbers: Cornell University departments may provide us with a Cornell account number. This payment method is not available to the Weill Medical College, BTI, USDA-ARS or other external institution.
Credit Cards: Payment accepted by Cornell University procurement card, personal credit card (Mastercard, Visa, American Express or Discover) provided at the time of the order. Credit card charges show up as "Life Sci Core Labs" on your statement.
Purchase Orders: When paying by purchase order, the PO must identify both the researcher and principal investigator, the dollar amount and duration. Mail the P.O. to the Core Laboratories Center at 130 Biotechnology Building, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, 14853 or fax to (607) 254-4847. A hard copy of the P.O. must be received before the order will be processed. Payment is due net 30 days from the invoice date. We will produce late notices at 30 days and every 30 days thereafter. At 90 days, our accounts receivable department will contact the institution's accounts payable and inform them that the customers whose invoices have not been paid will be denied service until the account is settled. We will also contact the affected customers directly. At 120 days, we will refuse service to anyone from the institution until the account is settled. We will inform accounts payable and all of the institution's customers of this situation.
Pre-paid TAB accounts: We have discontinued pre-paid TAB accounts. Existing accounts may be used until depleted, but we will not replenish or create new accounts.
Credit Card Proxies: If an institution would like to make payment with a credit card but would not like to provide individual customers with the card number, we can establish a "credit card proxy" whereby you phone in your payment information and we assign a "proxy number" that customers will supply when ordering services. We will charge the card associated with the proxy number.
The status of a customer in regards to external versus internal pricing is based on the fund source of their payment. Payments made with funds sourced from the following institutions are considered internal to Cornell Unviersity:
- Cornell University (Ithaca and Geneva)
- The Cornell University Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College
- The Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research
- The USDA Agricultural Research Service management units in Ithaca and Geneva
Data generated by the CLC is made available to the customer for a minimum of 30 days via our website or ftp server. Except as noted below for specific services, storage, backup and availability of the data is the customer's responsibility. Beyond 30 days, data may be retrieved by request for an additional fee.
Exceptions and Service-Specific Information
